Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone had any input on aquarium pumps? We were given a ViaAqua 2600 with a 2800L/hr flow rate (740 gph) with the tank, but it has stopped working more than once. We've managed to resuscitate it a couple of times but are thinking it's wise to change it out. We've been told the Eheim pumps are really good, but it looks like the Eheim choices are either a 635 gph or a 900 gph rate. Will it make that much of a difference with the lower flow rate to our system? The 900 seems like a bit of overkill ... Any advice welcome! |

Eheim pumps are rock solid. Tell us a little more about your whole system. What size tank, livestock, other equipment, etc. It might help with the suggestions, based on what else you have.

60 gal tank mostly softies (candy cane, hammerhead, frogspawn, cloves, green star polyps, cabbage leathers, colt leather, lots of zoos, xenia, mushrooms, blastos, brown "button" mushrooms, ricordeas) w/ a couple of hard pieces (pocillopora & montipora). Livestock: citron goby, tomato clown, starry blenny, 6-line wrasse, royal gramma, koko worm, feather dusters, fire shrimp, snails. I've missed some stuff, but you get the picture. We have a teeny, tiny skimmer that is being run by a Rio 600 (these are also on our upgrade list), overflow box, & 2 new coralia powerheads (a 2 & a 3). We think our sump is about 15 gals. Thanks!

635gph on a 60g is plenty.
i also really like quietone pumps, you might check them out.
